Good, but carbohydrates a mess

It's a good one semester-type of book. It is concise and clear at the same time. I just saw a number of mistakes with carbohydrates, esp. disaccharides, e.g. Fig 12.12 on p.435, problem 14.b on p.452 etc. Please Mary, do not trust your TA-s for these things because you cause a lot of confusion among us, the stupid undergrads!
A good introduction

I used this text in our 300-level undergrad biochemistry course. It was written quite simply, and most of the diagrams were good (although the professor had to correct many mistakes he had found). It is great for an introductory book, but it stinks for a student intending to pursue graduate study in the subject. I would recommend Stryer's biochem book for a more in-depth look at the topic.

Chap 2 Question 34 answer from the back of the book states:

"We now have .003 mol of H+ in approximately 0.1 L of solution. This is approximately 0.3 M H+."

Now, I might be wrong, but isn't it really 0.03 M H+? M = moles/L and since 0.1 L is one-tenth of a liter, one should be able to multiply both .003 and 0.1 by 10 to get the correct molarity.

I've found other boo-boos in this book too.
Excellent Choice

This textbook has an excellent mix of detailed information and readability. Explanations are clear and illustrations are numerous and greatly add to the learning experience. The flow of material is well suited to learning. There is a logical flow that aids the student in building a solid understanding of the subject. I am so thankful that my Biochem professor chose this text as the requirement for our class (Biochemistry for PharmD program).

This book was good but I was under the impression that the book was the normal book not international. It was paperback with no color on the pages.
